THROUGH THICK AND THIN IN HAIR CARE PRODUCT AND SALON INDUSTRY – JAJJA CHINTA

Hair salons are among the businesses that are impacted severely due to Covid-19. This is because it is not an essential service thus making them have to close their operation during the pandemic in adhering to Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) by the government. However, this hair salon founder has come out with ways in overcoming the obstacles through her career in the industry and this includes during the Movement Control Order (MCO) that was enforced during previous few years.

People often heard about Jajja Chinta through advertisements on the radio these days. This hair care line has struggled through ups and downs in the industry which almost caused the founder to shut down its business operation.

The company was founded by Siti Hajar Elyana Muda in 2017. She was a barber and owner of Muslimah hair salon, Elyana Beauty Salon in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu. She has become a barber since she was only 19 years old. Her business was running slow at that time causing a struggle for her to make payment for her salon’s rental. There are times she needs to fork out her pocket money in order to settle the lease payment. She then became an agent of a hair care product in helping to generate money to pay the rent.

Two years later, she launched her own hair care product called Jajja Chinta. The products sold individually or by set in providing the needs of the customers. Some of the products sold are Anti Hair Loss Shampoo, Perfect Repair Hair Mask, Hair Tonic, Anti Frizz Serum Floral, and Perfume Mini Hair Mist. All of her products are JAKIM and MOH certified. Jajja Chinta also has recently launched its latest product, Advance Hair Anti-Frizz Serum in combating concerns on smelly hair, hairfall, dry hair, and split-ends hair problem.

She was committed to learning about making 7 digit sales as what her peers did. Thus, she keeps attending classes and seminars in gaining more knowledge on managing company and marketing strategies. As the company was affected due to government restriction the company focuses on generating income through selling their hair care products on online or social media platforms. Jajja Chinta currently has a total of 4 salons in Terengganu (in Tanjung; Dataran Austin, Gong Badak; Wakaf Beruas; Dungun) and already received requests to open branches out of Terengganu. Jajja Chinta often give donations to orphanages and those who were affected by the flood through Bantuan Jajja Prihatin.

The company is currently recruiting more agents and stockists to join Jajja Chinta. As of 2021, Jajja Chinta have recruited a total number of 10,000 agents and they targeted to recruit another 40,000 by this year. With the determination from Jajja and her staff, the company is able to move forward and be more successful in future.
